ALL THE BUZZ
I have been fortunate enough to live a life of adventure! It began with good parents that taught me early on the value of the great outdoors, taking me camping, hiking, backpacking and white water rafting! My days in the Boy Scouts served me well in that I learned the fundamentals for not only surviving but thriving in the outdoors. I would go on to hike my first long distance hiking trail, the Appalachian Trail in 2005. Which stretches through 14 states from Maine to Georgia which I hiked with my best friend. We had graduated high school just three days before setting foot on the A.T. up in Maine where my Mom and Dad dropped us off. After hiking the A.T. I had developed such an infinity to the outdoors that I decide that I wanted to pursue a career in Outdoor Recreation. Which lead me to a small college in Colorado. I would attend Colorado Mountain College for two years receiving an associates degree in Outdoor Recreation and Leadership. Which I went on to use as a whitewater raft guide for many seasons. Some years would pass, all while I honed my outdoor crafts like Rock and Ice Climbing, White Water rafting, backpacking and backcountry skiing. While never taking my eye off the Triple Crown of long distance hiking. The Triple Crown consist of hiking the Appalachian Trails (2,185 miles hiked 2005) ), The Continental Divide Trail (3,000 miles hiked 2016) and The Pacific Crest Trail (2,650 miles hiked 2017). A total of almost 8,000 miles! The CDT and the PCT both stretch from Mexico to Canada, and the CDT took a total of 155 days the same as the A.T. oddly enough, and the PCT took just 118 days.
I have goals to start a non-profit that will help provide grants to young adventures that what to perhaps take a gap year and need help financing their own planned adventure. The non-profit would be geared to towards helping kids and teens that are affected by drug and alcohol related family issues which prevent them from experiencing the great outdoors. In a world that's turning more and more digital, I want the younger generations to have access to outdoors, so they have opportunities of all kinds to explore the natural world.
